Investigation results and preventative measures regarding the entrapment incident caused by the Elevator stoppage at the TOKYO SKYTREE Observation deck.
At approximately 8:15 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at TOKYO SKYTREE , operated by Tobu Tower Skytree , two Elevator connecting the 4th-floor entrance area to the 350th Tembo Deck deck of TOKYO SKYTREE TOKYO SKYTREE mid-operation. In one of these elevators, 20 Visitor were trapped inside until approximately 2:02 AM the following day.
While Visitor experienced illness or injury, we sincerely apologize for the distress caused by being trapped for an extended period.
Furthermore, we sincerely apologize again for the inconvenience caused to Visitor inside the Observation deck , who had to wait a considerable amount of time to descend from the Observation deck as a result of this incident.
We have been investigating the cause of the two Elevator that stopped working, and we are pleased to announce that the cause has been identified and preventative measures have been finalized.
